Working as part of the International Board of Counselors
in helping to coordinate the conference are Ford
Khorsandian and Trudi Jones.
Each have worked in the patent information profession
for over 20 years and have extensive experience
in organizing conferences in North America and in
Europe.
Ford Khorsandian is known, among other things,
for having spearheaded the concept of the International
Patent Information IPISM Award since 1998, which
made its debut in 2000 (see the Award website at
IPI-Award.com). Ford Khorsandian explains: “The
IPI Conference and Exposition in Europe is designed
to support patent information professionals in their
work by providing a venue for learning about the
latest technical developments in the industry. It
also provides a forum for the exchange of ideas.
It is the practical experience of the patent information
users and their feedback to the information suppliers
that often give rise to the next generation of innovative
new tools and services. It helps to keep the profession
moving forward.” He continues: “The
emphasis is on providing a learning environment,
achieved not only by the program itself, but also
through the many knowledge-sharing opportunities
available through networking.
The biggest impetus for IPI-ConfEx, and the reason
that it has come into being, is to provide a common
focal point for the professional development of
the members of the different user groups and all
patent information professionals in Europe and elsewhere.”
